Reform Continues

Mainland investors were supposed to be able to buy Hong Kong stocks about 7 years ago, but was shelved as the Ministry of Finance increasingly took control over the reform agenda. China Shares End Up; Brokerages Gain on Cross-Market Stock Investment Trial
Under the trial, China will allow mainland investors to trade shares of select companies listed in Hong Kong, while permitting Hong Kong investors to trade designated stocks listed in Shanghai, the China Securities Regulatory Commission said Thursday, in a jointly-released statement with the Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong.
Some stocks jumped more than 30% on the news.
